A CHILD wandered on to the railway line at Cowdenbeath train station to search for dogs.
The trespassing caused services across Fife being disrupted on Saturday night, just after 7.30pm.
Police Scotland confirmed that the child and the dogs were all recovered safely.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A child had gone on to the line to look for the dogs.
“They were all traced and were safe.”
A spokesperson for ScotRail said: “On Saturday evening ScotRail services between Edinburgh, Glenrothes, and Kirkcaldy were subject to disruption due to trespassers on the railway at Cowdenbeath.
“Police Scotland attended the incident.
“Following the incident, the line was reopened and services started to return to normal around 8.30pm."
