A KELTY man was caught driving when four times over the limit for cannabis.

Jamie Melville, 33, of Burnside Place, Kelty, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on February 24 last year at Old Perth Road, Cowdenbeath, he drove a car when over the limit for cannabis.

His reading was 8.0 microgrammes of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) per litre of blood, the legal limit being 2.0 microgrammes.

He also admitted he was in possession of cannabis at the same location.

Depute fiscal Rachel Aedy said Melville had been stopped by police at around 11pm and officers could smell cannabis from the car.

Defence solicitor Christopher Large said: “He’d smoking cannabis and was taking it to deal with stress.”

Sheriff James Macdonald banned Melville from driving for 12 months and fined him £520.
