A KELTY man has been jailed for a horrific catalogue of physical and sexual abuse against young children.

One victim had a plastic bag tightened around his head, deodorant sprayed in his mouth and was hit over the head with a chair.

Another child was told to eat his dinner off the floor and the victims were punched and kicked from a young age.

The sickening abuse carried out in properties in Dalgety Bay between 1992 and 2005 was carried out by George Grant.

He failed to provide adequate food and clothing, failed to provide medical assistance to one child, transported them in his van without seatbelts and regularly left them in the house unattended.

Between January 26, 1996, and January 25, 2000, he used lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards a girl, aged 12. He made sexual remarks towards her, induced her to play strip poker and asked her to remove her clothing.

He said, given the very serious nature of the crimes, he had considered remitting the case to the High Court where longer sentences can be imposed.

The sheriff also imposed non-harassment orders for an indefinite period to further protect the victims.
