GETTING it right for Young carers has landed Crossgates Primary with a special award.

The school was one of just three Fife schools to receive a Recognising 'We Care' Young Carers Award at a special event in Edinburgh.

It was presented at the Young Carers in Education Conference at the Queen Margaret University.

The school's Young Carers Champion, Jemma Thomas, said pupils and staff had worked hard over the last three years to develop ways they support Young Carers.

Initiatives include establishing a Young Carers club and working closely with Fife Young Carers to upskill all staff on how to identify Young Carers.

"We are delighted that the hard work of our pupils and staff have been recognised, it’s great to know we are getting it right for the Young Carers in our community," added Miss Thomas.
