COWDENBEATH Foodbank has given thanks for donations over Christmas and New Year.

Bags of items were handed in over December by kind-hearted families, groups and individuals, as well as NHS staff who contributed instead of buying gifts for each other.

Pat Spence, chair, said: "Well the celebrations are over for another year.

"Cowdenbeath Foodbank would like to thank every one of you who donated last year, and especially the many bags of shopping that arrived in December.

"As you can see from the photo, even the folk in the NHS are giving back to our communities.

"We tend to forget to take photos, but attached is a lovely group of nurses (and foodbank volunteer Wilma Goble) from the Renal Unit, Queen Margaret Hospital, who donated instead of giving each other gifts."

You can donate to the foodbank on Broad Street any Tuesday or Thursday between 4pm and 6pm.

Alternatively, you can knock on the side door between 10.30am and 11.30am on a Saturday morning if you have a contribution to make."
