ANDY'S Man Club has grown from strength to strength since launching in Cowdenbeath.

The local branch opened up in June with 16 men walking through the doors of its Central Park home - six of whom who were doing so for the first time.

James Scade, one of the facilitators at the men's support group, spoke to the Times this week to reflect on how the club has progressed, sharing the news that it now averages around 20 men each week on a Monday night.

He remarked: "I know how the club benefited me and how it now continues to help other men on their journey.

"Seeing some of the guys who attended the first meeting to seeing where they are now, it’s night and day. "Those men are a credit to themselves and I couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them who continue to make that step.

"Since the doors opened we’ve engaged with the local community - which is massive - and I would like to thank the local councillors who have extended an arm of support where possible, along with local businesses who have went above and beyond for the guys.

"The Forty Twa Cafe have provided a space for the guys to go into when there’s a bank holiday and supplied us with food when we’re in the street doing awareness booths. The backing from them is superb.

"One of the biggest things for me is the support I have from our facilitator team.

"We started with three facilitators and we now have eight, all of which are men who attended the club and are now confident enough to give their time to help other men in need, whilst continuing to help their own mental health."
