Woman conned money out of her victims by offering to sell them kittens

When they paid up the agreed price to 25-year-old Samantha Piaget, they failed to receive the pets.

Piaget, of Lauder Street, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court having been found guilty previously of two charges after a trial.

Between February 21 and April 4 last year, at Castle Avenue, Lochore, Lauder Street and elsewhere, she pretended to a woman that she would sell her a kitten.

The woman would pay an initial deposit of £90 and an additional £40 in exchange for the kitten. However, Piaget had no intention of providing a kitten and obtained £130 by fraud.

In a similar offence, between March 19-23 last year, at Main Street, Lochgelly, she pretended to a man she would sell him a kitten and obtained £150 by fraud.

Sheriff Francis Gill told Piaget: “This was deceit on your part. I did not find your evidence credible or reliable.”

He imposed a community payback order with 80 hours of unpaid work. Piaget was also ordered to pay back £130 and £150 to her victims.
