CHRISTMAS arrived in Kelty with a sparkling event for the annual festive lights switch on.

Local residents of all ages turned out for the special occasion which was hosted by Kelty Community Council.

Its chairperson, Fred Clarke, said: “The entertainment was provided by the joint choir from St. Josephs and Kelty primary schools.

"Members of the Kelty Wish Foundation, a local charity, compered the concert and Kelty and Blairadam Concert band were on hand to provide the musical accompaniment for the carols.

“Madison Corner from St. Joseph’s and Eva Kelly from Kelty Primary performed the switch on.”

The popular event, which took place in the Kelty Community Centre, was made possible through fundraising by the community council.
