PLANS to turn a vacant office in Lochgelly into a one-bedroom flat have been approved by Fife Council.

Humayun Saleem's change of use proposals for 112-114 Main Street will see the ground floor of the two-storey property converted into a home.

Plans to turn the upper floor into two flats were approved in 2018.

The building is on the corner of Church Street and a planning statement on Mr Saleem's behalf said: "The ground floor currently consists of a retail outlet last used as a cake shop in September 2017 and has been vacant since then.

"The front part of the building is now utilised as a dance studio on a long term lease, with the rear of the building currently vacant."

The council approved the application but a report added: "The rest of the ground floor of the building is in unauthorised use as a performing arts education/recreation and theatre rehearsal space, which breach of control has been raised with management."
