IT WASN’T really a game which sparked fireworks but Kelty Hearts managed to do enough to earn one point at home to Alloa Athletic.

An improved second half showing saw Alfredo Agyeman nod in an equaliser to ensure his side didn’t finish the game pointless.

John Potter’s men were looking for a result after their defeat at Dunfermline last week.

The game started brightly from both sides without either side looking too much like breaking the deadlock.

There were long range efforts for both sides in the opening minutes, from Kallum Higginbotham for Hearts and Kevin Cawley for the visitors but bother went wide.

The first clear-cut of the game came to Alloa on the 25 minute mark. Murray Miller’s cross found Daniel Church in the box who neatly volleyed an effort past Darren Jamieson to give his side the lead.

Michael Tidser had a chance minutes later after Joe Cardle squared a free kick to him on the edge of the box but his low effort was held by Alloa keeper Willie Muir.

Connor Sammon looked likely to double his side’s lead just before 40 minutes after the ball was played in and had beaten the Hearts keeper. However Jordon Forster came to the rescue and cut out the pass and put the ball out for a corner.

Church had a go at making it two on the stroke of half time from a free kick from just outside the box.

He curled his set piece towards the bottom corner but Jamieson was able to collect it without too many problems.

The second half proved more fruitful for Kelty and they appeared to come out brighter after the break.

Minutes in, Jamie Barjonas delivered a long-raange shot which Alloa keeper Muir had to palm away to safety.

Then, Higginbotham linked up well with Agyeman before firing an effort in which rattled the post before coming back out.

The hard work off paid off after 55 minutes when Barjonas fired in a shot which Muir saved.

The ball came out to Agyeman who pounced from close range and nodded the ball into the net.

Alloa did create some danger of their own and were looking to restore their lead on 75 minutes. Church and Donnelly linked up well but the latter fired his shot over.

Substitute Kieran Offord was next to look for an equaliser on 77 minutes when he curled in an effort but that was well held by Jamieson.
