LOCALS from Kelty are being asked to consider volunteering to improve their mental and physical health.
Fife Labour MSP Alex Rowley, on a visit to Oor Wee Cafe in the community centre, was told of the many benefits that stepping up to help can bring, such as a sense of satisfaction, meeting new people in a social setting and trying new activities.
He said: “I wanted to thank the volunteers for all they do to help others but they were also keen to tell me that there are many positives that come from volunteering and would encourage others who have a bit of time to give to come forward and get involved.”
The cafe is based in Kelty and provides around 50 hot meals every Tuesday as well as issuing more than 400 pre-prepared takeaway meals.
Everyone is made welcome and those who can afford to are able to make a donation towards running costs.
There is also food and clothes bank distribution for those who need it.
