A TRIP to Clackmannanshire provided no cheer for Kelty as they conceded three goals at Alloa.

A goal straight from the corner in the first half followed by two in the second half served up a miserable afternoon for the Fifers.

There was a consolation own goal for John Potter’s men in the closing minutes after Joe Cardle had whipped in a cross but the tie provided few clear-cut chances for the visitors.

John Potter’s men had been looking for their first league one points after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat against FC Edinburgh last week.

They were bolstered by new season-long loan signing Cammy Logan who came straight into the starting line up against the Wasps.

Kelty started the first half brightly with Alfie Agyeman causing problems for the home side.

A run down the right ended with him squeezing a cross in which was blocked and came out to Docherty whose effort was stopped and cleared.

A Joe Cardle free kick minutes later looked dangerous but was headed over the bar by a Wasps defender.

It wasn’t all Kelty though and Alloa came close after nine minutes when Connor Sammon shot from just outside the box, making Jamieson parry the ball round the post.

The resulting corner saw Athletic take the lead. Scott Scougall’s set piece went straight in. The Kelty keeper had looked like he had claimed the ball but was deemed to be behind the line.

On 15 minutes, Jamieson was called into action again when Sammon put Scougall through but was thwarted by the Hearts keeper.

Close season signing Lewis Martin looked like he was taking matters into his own hands just after the 20 minute mark when he drove up the pitch but his long-range shot was way over.

Alloa nearly made it two on 36 minutes when the ball swung into Adam King who headed wide when he looked destined to score.

There was another close shave just before the half time whistle when a free kick from the half way line was floated in but Jamieson produced a strong block to deny a goal.

The second half failed to see a come back and the home side doubled their lead on 68 minutes.

Murray Miller crossed to Bradley Rodden who got down for a low diving header which beat Jamieson.

On 79 minutes, a Cardle cross reached the head of Ross Philp but his effort went wide.

Rodden grabbed his second of the game, and Alloa’s third, with ten minutes to go after a mix up between the Kelty keeper and his defence.

The substitute latched onto the ball and slotted the ball into an empty net.

With just three minutes to go, Kelty grabbed a consolation after great work from Joe Cardle. The winger whipped the ball into the box and saw his effort hit off Alloa’s Andy Graham to make it 3-1.
