THE offer is on the table for you to invest in a local social enterprise that keeps young people on the right track.

Scottish Communities Finance has launched a community bond offer with Kingdom Off Road Motorcycle Club.

Bonds cost £25 each and give a financial return to people who buy them.

The finances raised will assist KOR which has supported thousands of local young people since it was established in 2003, to develop Cardenden MotoX track as a youth training, sports and entertainment facility for Fife.

KOR provides off-road motorcycle-related activities to children and young people, helping them to develop and gain qualifications for employment.

“Community bonds are a way for local people to support local social enterprises and get a financial return” says Pauline Hinchion, managing director of Scottish Communities Finance.

“In this case they will get their money back with interest in 5 years’ time."

The club aims to reduce anti-social and illegal use of off-road motorcycles that cause disruption and harm in our communities.

It provides low or no cost access to equipment and off-road riding for disadvantaged young people.

It aims to realise the value in this high adrenaline-fuelled activity and use it as a means to influence positive change and promote healthy child/youth development and contribute to safer communities by changing the behaviour, attitudes and values of young people.

“Run by volunteer trustees who live locally who meet on a regular basis, we are not only a facility for members but also for visitors and local residents,” said a spokesperson.

“The funds raised will enable us to take over the running of the Cardenden MotoX Track. We expect to welcome up to 3,500 people a year with plans for that figure to grow significantly over the next five years.”

Any adult can buy a community bond –at a cost of £25 per bond.

Simple 1.5 per cent interest is paid when the bond matures in five years’ time. The bond offer opened on June 25 and closes on August 14.
