A DRUG-DRIVER ran off and abandoned his car after being involved in a collision.
Malcolm Dewar, 47, of Muirtonhill Road, Cardenden, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on September 14 last year, in Station Road, Cardenden, he drove when unfit to do so through drink or drugs.
Depute fiscal Lauren Pennycook said that at 12.10am, a witness saw a Ford Focus, which appeared to have been in a collision, with air bags inflated and two males running from the car.
Police were contacted and checks on the vehicle led them to Dewar’s home at 12.40am.
He appeared to be under the influence of something and claimed his car had been stolen.
However, he then admitted he had been driving the car and he did not know why he had run off.
Dewar, who was representing himself, said he had crashed the car after being distracted by his dog.
He admitted he had been taking cannabis before driving.
Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon banned Dewar from driving for a year and fined him £320.
