TWO youngsters have been charged in connection with damaging a new woodland trail in the Cowdenbeath area.

Police officers have revealed in the past few moments that nine of the decorated wooden 'Coos' as part of the new 'Coo Trail' have been vandalised.

Pupils and staff from the Craft, Design and Technology Department at Beath High School, in cooperation with the team from Cowdenbeath Community Policing, have been working for the last few months on an innovative project designed to engage the community and to help tackle anti-social behaviour.

The initial idea for the ‘Coo Trail’ came from local officer PC Louise Sneddon and the young people helped to both design and develop the project in an attempt to encourage everyone to take ownership of this woodland trail, set within the Woodend Community Woodland.

The ‘Coo Trail’ is an interactive woodland walk with a display of specially designed cows, and individually created cowbells dotted along the way and is being generously funded by Cowdenbeath and Hill of Beath Community Councils in conjunction with Police Scotland.

Now, police have announced that nine of the 'coos' have been damaged, with two youths charged and a further two still to be.

Officers stated: "PS Nicol & PC Sneddon visited the Coo Trail this morning to observe the damage.

"Damage: 9 Coos. Youths identified: 4. Charged: 2 down 2 to go.

"Made by the community for the community and we urge the community to look after it."
