A 58-YEAR-OLD Cowdenbeath woman was caught drug-driving after taking cannabis.
Margaret McPhee, of Burgh Road, was more than three times over the limit and appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
She admitted that on October 25 last year, in Perth Road, Cowdenbeath, she drove after consuming cannabis.
The proportion of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in her blood was 6.8 microgrammes per litre of blood, the legal limit being two microgrammes.
Depute fiscal Laurelle Johnstone said that, at 4.40pm, police on patrol stopped McPhee’s vehicle and when they spoke to her, there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car.
Defence solicitor Elaine Buist said her client had only started taking cannabis to help her sleep.
Sheriff Charles Macnair commented: “I can’t believe anybody would think that driving having taken cannabis is not dangerous.”
He fined McPhee £355 and banned her from driving for 12 months.
