THE FAMILY of a 21-year-old who has died after being given just weeks to live have paid tribute to the "kindest soul".

Casey Adams, from Hill of Beath, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Friday, May 27, after a "very hard fight" against a chronic liver condition.

Her mum, Louise Adams, updated the fundraising page, which had been set up in the hope of getting Casey the surgery she desperately needed, to break the news to those who had been following her story.

She wrote: "With the heaviest of broken hearts this update is the one we didn't want to write.

"After a very hard fight, yesterday, Friday the 27th of May surrounded by all her family and friends, Casey grew her wings and left us all for heaven.

"As a family we would like to thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for the support you have shown in what is the most difficult time of our lives. We want you all to know that your support whether it be donations, shares or words of comfort has really meant the world to us.

"We would now appreciate some privacy to try and begin to process and come to terms with our huge loss."

The former St Columba's High School pupil has been described as "the most amazing, beautiful and kindest soul" in a tribute posted online.

Her friend, Caitlin Milne, continued: "You will be remembered for the fabulous woman you were! Many stories to pass along.

"We’ve been through many firsts, lasts, laughs, cries and so much love, you are the bravest person I know, you have impacted so many and an inspiration to all.

"Taken far too young but my god you’ve fought a hell of a fight b, you can rest now."

Casey's family had been rallying to fund a private liver transplant, after doctors told her in March that she would have just weeks to live without the vital surgery.

She suffered from auto-immune hepatitis, a chronic liver condition which causes the body to attack its own cells.

The family raised more than £14,000 for the cause and have thanked everyone who supported them.
