FIFE volunteers are wanted as Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland looks for local people to help their community.

The health charity, which has a shop in the Raith Centre in Cowdenbeath, supports people with chest, heart and stroke conditions live their lives to the full.

In Fife, more than 130,700 people are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions.

The Cowdenbeath shop is one of 40 charity shops/hubs operated by the charity across Scotland and opened in November 2015.

As one of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland discount stores, it is one of the charity’s largest and turns over between 200 and 300 bags of donations every week.

The charity is looking for people to volunteer their time and place collection cans in shops, local businesses and community spaces to help raise awareness and funds to make sure people with chest, heart and stroke conditions are getting the support they need when they leave hospital.

All the funds raised through the collection cans will go towards funding the charity’s Hospital to Home services which are a nationwide network of local support groups, nurses and one-to-one support teams which support people and their families throughout their recovery.

Ruth Zokas, Volunteering Development Lead at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said:“This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in your local community.

“If you enjoy meeting and talking to new people and building connections in your community then this could be the perfect volunteer role for you!

“All money raised in Scotland stays in Scotland. By volunteering with us, you’ll be helping people across the country get the support they really need.”
