PRIMARY school pupils are owed a 'thank you' after cleaning up a fly-tipping hotspot in Cowdenbeath.

Cowdenbeath PS youngsters embarked on a litter pick opposite the local recycling centre on Cuddyhouse Road.

Kids from Primary 4 worked alongside their teacher, support staff, parents and Fife Council's Safer Communities Team to carry out the tidying effort for the safety of both people and local wildlife.

Shona Forbes, from the school, said: "This took place at the wasteland opposite Cowdenbeath's Recycling Centre.

"Some children shared that they hoped people would be more responsible and put their waste in the correct places.

"Others showed a lot of concern for animals who may be harmed as a result of fly-tipping.

"The children showed amazing enthusiasm and were proud of the finished result."
