A NEW venue has been set for the return of the West Fife Show.

The agricultural celebration will now take place at Easter Bucklyvie farm in Crossgates after leaving its previous home in Kelty.

This year the show will celebrate it's 260th anniversary, after having a two year break due to the pandemic.

Chairman Russell Wood said: "We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to a full show.

"The dairy section is always strong at West Fife, with around 30 animals coming from six or seven competitors in the area. There’s a strong emphasis on the young dairy handling classes.

"The Clydesdale section is growing year on year, along with pedigree and commercial cattle and sheep, goats, a poultry tent, and light horse classes."

Organisers have been putting plans in place for months, with show veterans and ex-Chairmen Alan and Jim Barr continuing their involvement.

There will be something for everyone at this year's exhibition with events sure to amuse all the family.

"There’s also the ever-popular baby animal tent including lambs, pigs, tortoises, newly-hatched chicks and baby calves for all the children," Mr Wood continued.

"Main ring entertainment will include heavy horse turnouts, a Young Farmers Tug o War qualifier for the Royal Highland Show, and a 'one man and his dog' sheepdog display from Stuart McDougal. Our resident Pipe Band, Burntisland, will also be in attendance."

There will also be opportunities to learn about farming, with a sheep shearing display, milking demonstration, and horse shoeing, as well as face painting, bouncy castles, and play areas for children.

The West Fife show is set to take place in Crossgates on Saturday, June 4.
