A WOMAN was punched and kicked by her then partner, ending their relationship.

Gary Foy, 38, of Dunearn Drive, Kirkcaldy, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on August 7 last year, at Hillview Place, Crossgates, he assaulted his then partner by punching her repeatedly on the body and then kicked her on the leg.

Depute fiscal Zahra Bhatti told the court an argument had started between the couple and Foy had made a comment about her being a “slut”.

She went on: “Then, out of nowhere, he punched her to the lower abdomen. I understand she’d recently had an operation and it had not healed properly at that time.

“He then kicked her on the leg and she was later taken to hospital where it was found she had no significant injuries.”

Defence solicitor Ian Beatson said: “Too much alcohol had been consumed and he very much regrets his actions.”

Sheriff David Hall imposed a community payback order with 90 hours of unpaid work and one year’s supervision.

He told Foy: “It’s clear that your behaviour on this day brought the relationship to an end and that’s something you’ll have to live with.”
