A CARDENDEN man was found inside a house looking to commit a theft.

Conor McNamee went upstairs before claiming he had gone into the wrong house by mistake.

McNamee, 48, of Woodend Park, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on 17th May last year in Woodend Road, Cardenden, he was found in a house unlawfully whereby it could be inferred he intended to commit theft.

Depute fiscal Catherine Stevenson said at 3pm the householder had left his property and an hour later a neighbour saw McNamee hanging about in the front garden before trying the front door and going in.

He initially came back out because a dog started barking.

However, he went back in and the neighbour, who had been watching his antics, went across to confront him.

On going into the house, he could hear McNamee upstairs. He came down the stairs and claimed he had gone into the “wrong house by mistake” added the depute.

He was told to leave, which he did just as the householder was returning home.

McNamee also had to be re-sentenced for an offence dating back more than four years as he never completed the hours of unpaid work.

The court was told he was now deemed as unfit to do that work.

On 28th October 2017, at his home, he assaulted his then partner by repeatedly pushing her on the body and down stairs, seized her by the body and threw her down stairs, repeatedly struck her on the body with a door trim, all to her injury.

Sheriff Francis Gill imposed a structured deferred sentence and McNamee will return to court on 22nd June.
