A 27-YEAR-OLD man sexually assaulted a woman after being invited to a Hogmanay party in Cowdenbeath.

Gordon Firth then bit a police officer called to the incident.

Firth, of Robert Smith Court, Lumphinnans, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court by video link from jail.

He admitted that on December 31, at High Street, Cowdenbeath, he sexually assaulted a female by touching her on the buttocks over her clothing.

He then assaulted a police officer by biting him on the body over his clothing.

The court heard that Firth had been released early in July last year from a previous jail sentence.

Sheriff Charles Macnair commented on the incident: “He was invited up to a party, not to sexually assault women.”

The sheriff ordered Firth to serve four months from his previous sentence and a consecutive 270 days for these latest offences. He was also put on the sex offenders’ register.
