THE kids are alright this Saturday as free football is offered to those aged 16 and under.

This Saturday, at Central Park, Cowdenbeath face Elgin City in a vital cinch SPFL League Two fixture for both clubs.

Cowden are nine points adrift of Elgin in the battle to avoid relegation come May and a win over the Borough Briggs side would narrow that gap to six, with the Blues having three games in hand, and the club is hoping for a big turn out from home fans.

David Allan, Cowdenbeath secretary, said: “We are therefore now delighted to announce a special incentive for this match for our younger fans and indeed any local youngsters who can come along to enjoy the game and lend their support.

“With the very generous backing of one of our regular sponsors, Nottingham Supporting Cowden Miners, we are pleased to confirm that all those aged 16 and under who attend this match to support Cowden, will be admitted absolutely free of charge.

“In addition, if they are accompanied by an adult, the said adult will be admitted at the discounted price of just £5. And that’s not all, all youngsters entering free under this arrangement will be given a numbered ticket on admission which will then be entered into a prize draw.” There are 10 prizes available and the winners will be announced and prizes will be presented at half-time.

Prizes include being the team mascot for the Kelty Hearts fixture on March 5; a match ball autographed by the Cowden team; a £25 gift voucher from GAME; a home replica shirt and more.

Added David Allan: “Our most grateful thanks go to Nottingham Supporting Cowden Miners for all their help with this initiative”.

Their convener Jimmy Blair said: “We are truly delighted to be working together with the club in order to open up free entry to juveniles for this match, hopefully to maximise the attendance on the day. Our key motivation really is simply to attract more young fans to support Cowdenbeath FC.”

In addition to the initiative, the club confirmed this week that general admission prices for the game will be cut from the normal £14 adult and £8 concession to just £10 and £5 respectively.

“Once again we are pleased to have been able to work with our sponsors Nottingham Supporting Cowden Miners to provide this latest offer - and we look forward to welcoming you to Central Park on Saturday”, the club said.
