VANDALISM, drugs offences, shoplifting and assault were just some of the crimes police in the Cowdenbeath area had to deal with over the past week.

In the seven days between January 10 and 16 the force received 234 calls for the patch, which also includes Lochgelly, Kelty, Crossgates, Hill of Beath, Benarty and Cardenden, with 29 of those calls requiring an emergency response.

This led to 39 crime files being opened and 17 of the offences have been detected.

Other crimes committed over the seven days included theft by housebreaking, an attempt to break into a home and threatening and abusive behaviour.

Road traffic offences included drink driving, failure to stop and driving while disqualified.
