THE NEW Year brought with it a special delivery for one Crossgates couple.
Taylor Elliot, 24, and Cameron Taylor, 26, welcomed their little daughter Eilidh into the world just hours into 2022.
The new arrival was born at 2.17am on January 1, the first delivery of the year at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
She weighed in at eight pounds and two ounces – 3,695 grammes – after deciding to wait until after the bells to make her much anticipated arrival.
Mum Taylor said she and partner Cameron were "smitten" with their first baby.
"It turns out she was the first girl in Scotland but not the first baby and was the first in Fife," she said. "She is doing brilliantly.
"She was actually due on December 29 which is when my contractions started with her but she was not then born until the 1st – she just wanted to be famous!"
The couple were able to return to their Crossgates home just 14 hours after Eilidh had made her appearance but not before they were able to enjoy a New Year's dinner.
"We managed to get one in the hospital and it was delicious," added Taylor. "Since then we have been running on fumes but we are just smitten with her."
