FOULFORD Road in Cowdenbeath has closed once again due to flooding.

Heavy rainfall this morning (Wednesday) has now prevented access from High Street/Perth Road junction and Leuchatsbeath Drive junction.

As reported previously by the Times, Fife Council is aware of the ongoing issue and an onsite meeting was held last month as affected residents from Foulford Road met with Fife Council officers, as well as local councillors, to share their experiences and ongoing concerns, and demanded urgent action to prevent further flooding.

Commenting on the latest incident, Cowdenbeath councillor Darren Watt said: "The area has once again been impacted by localised flooding.

"Unusually, this has occurred during the day, which will have a wider impact on local traffic as this is a main route many people use to access the retail park and town centre.

"Fife Council have been doing investigatory work in recent weeks and local councillors should receive an update in mid-January, however, this will offer very little comfort and assurance to those affected.

"This has been going on for far too long and nothing less than immediate remedial works will suffice."

Fife Council's Bill Liddle, service manager, said: “We are aware of some localised flooding in Cowdenbeath and other locations today which we are currently dealing with.

"There have been issues in this area before and we will be continuing with investigation work to find a solution and will be updating elected members in due course."
