A 41-YEAR-OLD man was caught drink-driving in Crossgates when he was more than four times over the limit.
Simon Whyte drove through a red light and collided with another vehicle then tried to run away.
Whyte, formerly of South Larch Way, Dunfermline, now of Sinclair Drive, Cowdenbeath, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing, representing himself.
He admitted previously that on September 29, in Main Street, Crossgates, he drove after consuming excess alcohol. His reading was 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said Whyte was seen driving at 11.30pm when he went through a red light and was in a collision with a van.
Whyte then tried to run away from the scene but was grabbed by a member of the public.
Sheriff Grant McCulloch imposed a community payback order with 80 hours of unpaid work and a 15-month driving ban.
