ScotRail is sleighing its prices for Scottish students this Christmas with a 50 per cent discount on train tickets across Scotland’s Railway.

College and university students will be able to take advantage of half price travel on any off-peak ScotRail service from Friday next week, December 10 until Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24.

Available on all singles, returns, and open returns, students will save whatever their festive plans. All students need to do is turn up at a staffed ticket office with their valid ID, purchase their half-price ticket, and jump on board.

And the savings will roll right into January too, as customers who buy off-peak open return tickets will have up to one month to use the return portion for their journey back to colleague or university – up to Sunday, January 23 for tickets purchased on Christmas Eve.

Lesley Kane, ScotRail Commercial Director, said: “Christmas can be tough for everyone – and for students it’s no different. It can be hard going to try keep up with studies, balance finances, and make time to see friends and family.

“We think this half price deal on tickets is the best gift we can give them before Christmas and we’re sure it will be very popular amongst students, whether they’re heading into town with friends or making the journey home to see loved ones at this special time of year.”
