FESTIVE opening hours at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre have been confirmed.

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust has provided an update to locals on when they can stay physically active over the Christmas period.

Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre will shut from Christmas Eve (December 24) this year and will re-open on Monday, January 3.

Those in need of a swim or a gym visit can however visit one of the trust's other venues in Fife, as the doors will remain open in between Christmas and New Year at Carnegie Leisure Centre, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre and Michael Woods Leisure Centre, Glenrothes; from Monday, December 27 to Thursday 30.

Its other centres, including Cowdenbeath, Bowhill Swimming Pool and Lumphinnans Sports Hub, are set to close from Friday, December 24 to Monday, January 3, except for Duloch Leisure Centre which will be closed on Thursday, December 22 and re-open on Thursday, January 6.

The trust said: "The area’s leading sports and leisure services provider will be giving locals the opportunity to stay active over the festive season with a choice of three centres.
