A DRIVER who was incensed after being given a parking ticket then crashed into a parked car in Dunfermline.

After dishing out foul-mouthed abuse to a traffic warden, Christopher Cahill drove off, sticking up his finger, and collided with the parked vehicle.

When Cahill, 37, of Main Street, Lumphinnans, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, he was put on a ‘tag’ and banned from driving.

He admitted previously that on February 20 last year, at New Row, he swore at a traffic warden and acted in an aggressive manner towards him.

He also caused his car to collide with another vehicle and failed to stop.

Depute fiscal Mat Piskorz said Cahill’s car had earlier been given a ticket because it was parked in a loading bay.

At 11.50am, the warden saw Cahill next to his car and approached him, asking if he was going to move it.

Cahill responded by telling the warden to “f*** off” and claimed he had been delivering to a nearby shop.

As the conversation continued, the warden was again told to “f*** off” and Cahill was warned the police would be called because of his abusive behaviour.

Cahill drove off eventually, sticking up his middle finger at the warden, and collided with the bumper of a parked car. Then, instead of stopping following the collision, Cahill drove away.

Sheriff Alastair Brown imposed a restriction of liberty order for three months and banned Cahill from driving for nine months.
