THE funeral of a popular Ballingry man will take place later this week.

James (Jim) Christie passed away peacefully on September 15 surrounded by his family, and will be given a send-off this Thursday, September 23.

John Gilfillan Funeral Directors posted a tribute which read: “ James Christie [passed] Peacefully at home in the presence of his loving family on Wednesday 15th September 2021, James (Jim) Christie, aged 74 years of Ballingry, formerly of Kirkcaldy.

“Beloved husband of Christine, loving father to Mark and Karen, father-in-law of Alex, and dearly loved and devoted grandad to Reece; also much loved brother to Linda, Grant and the late Mary, a dear brother-in-law and good friend to many.

“Funeral service will take place at St Serf's Church Benarty on Thursday 23rd September at 10.15am, interment thereafter at Ballingry Cemetery at 11.00am, to which all relatives and friends are respectfully invited.”

A tribute to Jim was also posted by Tom Kinnaird, who said he made huge contributions to the area and will be missed.

It read: “Jim was a great man, a friend to many who made huge contributions to his community in the Community Council, the Benarty Heritage Preservation Group and the Community Shop to name a few.

“Rest in Peace Jim, you will be sorely missed.”

Just back in July, the Times contained an article celebrating Jim and Christine’s 50th wedding anniversary.
