THE Bowhill Highland Games returned at the weekend following a 69-year absence from Fife.

Despite a near-seven year hiatus, a massive crowd turned out to watch the games, as men, women and children delighted in the spectacle.

The hundreds who attended were treated to a dry day at Wallsgreen Park, Cardenden, as they watched a parade kick-off the festivities.

A number of different Highland Games were carried out, as well as a number of dance performances from various groups.

There were also sprint and cycle races at the games which were supposed to take place last year but were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Many took to social media after the event to pay tribute to Don and Margaret Campbell, and the organising committee, for a stellar job.

A date for the diary is September 11, 2022, when the games will return once again.
