EVERY single ward in Central Fife is currently in the highest level of Covid infection transmission rate, according to new data.
The Scottish Government’s neighbourhood map shows which council wards are worst hit by Covid-19 to a weekly average based on a population per 100,000 people.
For the week up to and including September 4, the most recent data available, every Fife ‘neighbourhood’ has a rate of 400+ cases per 100,000 people.
This is the highest level possible and shows just how prevalent the virus is among communities.
Lochgelly East has the highest amount of cases in Central Fife, and fourth in the whole of Fife, with 68 cases in the last week.
Lochore and Crosshill, and Ballingry follow close behind in the top 10 in Fife.
The worst-hit area in the Kingdom is Methil which recorded 98 cases in the period.
The overall positivity rate across Fife is 12.2 per cent, against a benchmark of 5 per cent which deems the virus out of control, according to the World Health Organisation.
