A CARDENDEN woman assaulted her partner after drinking two bottles of wine.

Marika Morris, 43, of Craigside Road, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted previously that on July 11, at her home, she assaulted her partner by seizing him by the throat and pushing him against a door, seized him by the body and attempted to prevent him from leaving the house.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said the couple had been in a relationship for 10 months.

On this night, they had been consuming alcohol in her home and had ordered a takeaway meal.

When the food was delivered, Morris’ partner took it into the kitchen and she lunged at him suddenly and grabbed him by the throat.

He decided he was leaving and went to pack his belongings.

Morris shouted: “You’re not leaving me” and grabbed him around the waist to hold him back. She then locked the front door but her partner was able to leave by the back door.

The matter came to light when the man then threatened to commit suicide and police were called to the incident.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said his client had no previous convictions. On this occasion, she had drank two bottles of wine and the offences was “out of character” he added.

Sheriff Alastair Brown deferred sentence on Morris until November 24 for her to be of good behaviour.
