A CARDENDEN drug dealer who was caught with more than 8,000 diazepam tablets has been sent to jail.

Police found the haul during a raid on Andrew Caldow’s home at Dundonald Park.

The 36-year-old drug dealer had also been making threats about unpaid debts and appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that between January 1 and February 8 at his home he was concerned in the supply of diazepam.

He also admitted that between February 5 and 7 he sent messages to a man in Lochgelly threatening to damage his property.

He further admitted that on May 2 last year at Inchgall Avenue, Crosshill, he was unlawfully in possession of a controlled drug, etizolam.

Depute fiscal Mat Piskorz said that the search warrant had been obtained and executed at Caldow’s home.

Police found more than 8,000 diazepam tablets during the search.

There was also evidence of Facebook messages sent by Caldow making threats about an unpaid debt.

The Crosshill offence involved Caldow being found in possession of over 1,000 tablets with a value of £500 to £1,000.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said Caldow had himself been a drug addict for a number of years.

Sheriff Alastair Brown said: “The offending involves a significant role.

"He was dealing on his own behalf for financial gain and was also carrying out an enforcement function.”

The sheriff jailed Caldow for eight months.

He commented that the reason he could not impose a longer sentence was because the prosecution had been brought under summary and not solemn procedure.
