A CARDENDEN man who downloaded indecent images of children for more than 10 years has appeared back in court.

Mark Thompson, 60, of Main Street, was at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for the details of his offending to be read out.

He admitted previously that between June 22, 2009, and December 15, 2019, he downloaded indecent images of children.

He also admitted a second charge that between these dates, he was in possession of indecent images of children.

Depute fiscal Claire Bremner said that police had received information about an indecent image being downloaded which led to them carrying out a search of Thompson’s home.

A number of items were seized and taken to be examined.

Thompson said he was divorced and had lived alone at that address since 2004.

He told police that he had been viewing indecent images of children “since the inception of the internet”, added the depute.

There were later found to be more than 780 indecent images and videos on his devices.

Sheriff James Williamson called for reports and deferred sentence until August 20. Thompson has been put on the sex offenders’ register.
