Sir,
Halfords has reported increased profits of £96.3 million up from £55.9 million. A lot of it due to surging sales of bikes, e-cycles and e-scooters. E-scooters are not yet legal on our roads although trials are going on in 30 cities.
Bikes, e-cycles and e-scooters cost from £200 to well over £1000.
If the owners can afford these prices plus all the gear that goes with them then they can afford to pay to use the roads.
They should also be insured, pass a test and carry an identification plate on the machine and on a Hi-Viz jacket so they can be reported to the police when they flaunt the Highway Code and illegally ride on pavements, endangering pedestrians.

Dear Sir,
Perhaps we should look at the benefits of the climate change industry.
It does give students something to worry about, and is a valuable government tool for taxation and control of the individual.
It also makes many people feel good as they make a 50 mile round trip in their Range Rover to recycle twelve Cabernet Sauvignon bottles.
Yours,
Malcolm Parkin
