A MAN phoned the police saying he wanted to be arrested but they should bring reinforcements as he would be violent.

David Bradley, 39, of Martin Crescent, Ballingry, had not been out of jail long when he offended again.

He appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted that on May 10, at his home, he phoned the 999 service, made threats of violence and uttered abusive remarks.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said: “He phoned the police at 6.30pm saying he’d committed a crime and wanted to be arrested.

“He said they should bring a lot of officers as he would be violent and this threat was taken seriously.”

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “He didn’t give them any difficulty at all in the event. He couldn’t give me an explanation for his behaviour other than he had been struggling with the misuse of valium since being released from jail in February.”

Sheriff Charles Macnair told Bradley: “Police officers have better things to be doing.” He jailed him for 80 days.
