THE funeral of a popular young Lochgelly woman will take place early next week.

Amy Elizabeth Guild died peacefully but suddenly on Friday, April 23, at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital.

The nursery teacher was the Beloved daughter of Liz and Pete, loving sister to Sandra and sister-in-law of Craig, dearly loved and devoted auntie to Charlie and Ji and a much loved niece; Amy was loved by everyone who knew her and will be sorely missed.

Well-known to many throughout Lochgelly and beyond, everyone has described the young woman as selfless and caring, showing these admirable traits in her work as a nursery teacher at Pittencrieff Primary in Dunfermline.

She began her education at Sunflower Nursery before moving to St Patrick's Primary and finished her schooling at St Andrew's High School in Kirkcaldy.

Friends paid tribute to Amy on social media following her sad passing.

One person wrote: “She was the loveliest girl ever. She looked after my kids at after school club and she honestly had a heart of gold. She will be missed by many people.”

Another tribute read: “I'm truly devastated when I was told of Amy passing. I taught her in her introductory year at Fife college. She had the kindest heart - the type of person who put others first and supported everyone around her. My deepest condolences to Amy's family.”

The most striking tribute, however, came from one of her pupils who wrote in a card to Amy's family: "I’m sorry for your loss – Amy was a hero to me at the school after club. She always had a smile of love, she was not like other people, she was always nicer, she was the best.

"I am sorry for your loss, love Zak."

The funeral will take place at Lochgelly Cemetery on Monday, May 10, at 1.30pm.
