MORE police patrols "appears to have done nothing" to stop the vandals after another weekend of anti-social behaviour in Lochgelly.

Yesterday Cowdenbeath police posted photos of the litter and damage left at the Public Park and asked parents if they knew where their children were and what they were up to.

It follows a spate of troubling incidents with more than 10 deliberate fires at Benarty Hill and Lochore Meadows last week and the recent desecration of the war memorial in Cowdenbeath, which led to four youths being charged.

There's also been vandalism at Lochgelly United's ground and yesterday's post on Twitter from Cowdenbeath police said: "Another weekend of anti-social behaviour calls to Lochgelly Public Park, officers returned to the area today to assess the litter and damage to the area.

"Bottles, cans of alcohol, glass on the pitch, bins and furniture set on fire. Parents, have a look at the pictures, where's your child been?"

Cowdenbeath councillor Darren Watt said: "Despite an increase in police presence over the weekend, it appears to have done nothing to deter or combat the ongoing anti-social behaviour and vandalism in Lochgelly.

"This is deeply concerning and I hope to discuss this directly with the local police inspector at the earliest opportunity.

"I would also urge parents to take responsibility for their children and ensure they know where they are and what they are up to."
