THE Fife Greens have announced local activist Mags Hall will stand in the Cowdenbeath constituency at the upcoming Scottish Parliament elections in May.

Mags is a political researcher and activist who has campaigned on a range of local issues including Mossmorran and the Edinburgh Airport flightpaths.

She is Co-convener of the Scottish Green Party's National Council, and second on the regional list for Mid Scotland and Fife.

Mags Hall said: "I'm delighted to have been selected to stand in Cowdenbeath in May. This constituency covers a large part of Central and West Fife, from Rosyth to Cardenden, and it's an area that for too long has been forgotten and left to deal with some of the worst environmental issues in Scotland.

“From the catastrophic flaring at Mossmorran which has made neighbours' lives a misery, to the pollution at Dalgety Bay beach which still has not been cleaned up by the MoD after more than a decade, these are serious issues which impact on the health of both locals and our environment.

“Cowdenbeath needs an MSP who will fight tirelessly on these important local issues and refuse to let the area be used as a dumping ground for environmental disasters.

“This May, the Scottish Greens are asking people to vote like our future depends on it, and I'm delighted to give residents in the Cowdenbeath constituency the chance to vote Green on both their ballots."

Green MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife Mark Ruskell is topping the party's regional list in Mid Scotland and Fife once again.

He backed Mags, saying: "Communities in Fife have been dumped on for generations, strong Green voices are needed more than ever to protect health and the environment and grow the jobs of the future.

“Mags is an experienced, passionate campaigner for communities who will fearlessly challenge vested interests and drive change. It’s time for fresh voices to step up at Holyrood and I’d relish working together with Mags as the Green team for Fife."
