FIFE Police have announced the passing of a procurator fiscal from the area.
John Keir, who worked closely with Fife Police as a depute procurator fiscal, died recently with a fundraising page now set up for charities close to his heart.
A statement from Derek McEwan, Fife Divisional Commander, read: “John joined Crown Office, Procurator Fiscal Service as a Fiscal Depute in Dundee in 1999, before working across the country, including Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Falkirk before he retired in late 2019.
“John always made himself available to provide advice and guidance to officers of all ranks and was a key individual in the preparation for court of some of the most significant criminal investigations policing in Fife have encountered.
“As a fiscal depute, John dedicated so much of his time, not only in supporting policing in Fife, but in making the communities of Fife and Scotland a safer place for all.
“He was to be missed upon his retirement but will be even more so now.
“Fife Division thank John for his service and support.”
