A MAN was caught drink-driving in Lochgelly when two times over the limit.

Patrick Feeley, 44, also did not hold a full driving licence.

Feeley, of Harbour Place, Burntisland, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on January 23 in Auchterderran Road, Lochgelly, he drove a car having consumed excess alcohol. His reading was 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.

He drove without a full driving licence, being the holder of a provisional.

He also drove without insurance.

Depute fiscal Laura McManus said police on patrol came across the car parked at the side of the road at 2.50am.

The car drove off and was signalled to stop. Officers speaking to Feeley could smell alcohol from him and he failed a breath test.

Defence solicitor Lee Qmsieh said his client had been with a family members that night.

He went on: “There was an argument about cigarettes which had gone missing. He was the least intoxicated and foolishly decided to nip out in the car to purchase more cigarettes.

"He himself says it was a stupid mistake.”

Sheriff Pino di Emidio fined Feeley £520 and banned him from driving for a year.
