LOCHGELLY Albert will be under new management when the Pyramid football season resumes.

Ross Gallagher, who took over at Gardiner’s Park in September as player/manager, has joined Burntisland Shipyard as a player, since the suspension of the season by the SFA in January.

The Shippy are, like the Berts, in Conference B of the East of Scotland League so it is likely Ross will come up against his former club in the coming weeks.

Taking over from him is a co-manager team of Davie Sheach and Kevin Kinnell.

Club secretary Ian Patrick said this week: “Since the suspension of the action on January 11 Ross has moved on as has several players.

“We have Davie and Kevin taking over and they have been busily recruiting replacements for the few players who have left us.

“Both of them are comfortable working together and hopefully when the action re-starts we will be able to continue our attempt to make the top eight of Conference B and our bid to get into the new First Division in 2021-22.”

Lochgelly are currently in 13th position in the table but still have 20 games to play and like Lochore Welfare are keen to finish in a position which would give them a place in the middle league.

Added Ian: “We feel that there is plenty of time to get into a challenging position and hopefully we can get a run of wins once things get going again.

“The lads have been getting training routines from Davie and Kevin to do themselves during the suspension so they have been keeping reasonably focused so hopefully we will be ready whenever the green light comes.”

The SFA announced on Wednesday that the re-start will be delayed until the beginning of March.

Meanwhile the Berts are keen to get a few new committee members aboard at Gardiner’s Park in the coming months.

“We have lost a few people in recent times and we would welcome anyone who would like to become part of the set-up at the Albert to get in touch,” said Ian.

“Ladies and gents who would like to be part of the Albert set-up helping out with the administration of the club should just get in touch with myself.

“It is an important time in the club’s history, us having left the junior set-up to join the East of Scotland League, in the SFA Pyramid, last summer and the more people we can have involved the better.”

If anyone would like to help the club in any way they should call Ian on 07740982985.
