COWDENBEATH MP Neale Hanvey has removed himself from social media just a week after being sacked from his front bench role in Westminster.

The MP called Twitter a “very negative” place which was distracting himself from his duties, but confirmed that his Facebook will remain active so he can continue to engage with constituents.

He was sacked as vaccine spokesman at Westminster a matter of days after being appointed to the role.

The Scottish National Party took action after he supported an online fundraiser for a defamation case against SNP colleague Kirsty Blackman.

A spokesperson for the politician said: “Neale had been using Twitter mostly in a personal capacity and was finding it distracting, very negative, and just generally not a good use of his time.

“He realised after recent events that now was as good a time as any to come off Twitter entirely.”
