Jobseekers across Fife set to benefit from a new employment programme launched last week.

The JETS scheme (Job Entry Targeted Support) is targeted at helping those who have lost jobs in the pandemic and is backed by a £21.7 million investment in Scotland.

People out of work for three months or more can receive specialist advice on how they can move into growing sectors where jobs are available, as well as CV and interview guidance, and be given an action plan from a personal adviser and opportunities to build new skills.

The Department for Work and Pensions will also boost support for claimants to give jobseekers access to the tailored, flexible support needed to quickly move back into employment.

Mid Scotland and Fife MSP, Dean Lockhart, said: "This is another important scheme from the UK Government that will really help people take up new opportunities and get back into work. "Understandably people's confidence can take a real hit when they lose their job, especially in the current circumstances, but the targeted support this scheme offers and its capacity to help identify those areas where jobs are needed is a very practical way to provide support.

"I would urge anyone in this difficult position to seek support or contact my office."

The programme was piloted in England and Wales in October – with more than 40,000 jobseekers referred to the programme in its first 50 days, equating to around 800 per day.
