A 17-YEAR-OLD youth who attacked two females, punching both of them in the face in drunken assaults, has appeared in court for sentencing.

The teenager, from Ballingry, cannot be named for legal reasons.

He submitted guilty pleas previously at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on August 29, at an address in Ballingry, he assaulted a 17-year-old girl by punching her to the head, kicked her on the body, pulled her hair, grabbed her body and pushed her into a bush.

He also admitted assaulting a second girl by punching her on the head and pushing her on the body.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia told the court that the girls were friends of the youth.

They had all been at another person’s home consuming alcohol, the court was told, and the incident occurred at around 1.30am after the three had left there.

The youth suddenly became upset saying: “I’ve got nobody” before launching into the assaults.

The depute went on: “The first girl was punched quite hard to the side of her face. When the second girl tried to stop him, she was punched in the face and pushed.”

He then grabbed the first victim by the hair and threw her into a bush, then kicked her.

Local residents heard the screaming and one of them ran outside to stop the violence before contacting the police.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said: “Excessive alcohol had been consumed and he doesn’t remember a great deal about what happened. He’s no idea how he got himself into this situation.”

Sheriff Neil Bowie imposed a structured deferred sentence and the youth will return to court on May 5.
