THE final resurfacing works in Blairadam Forest have been taking place this week.

Speaking to the Time, Jenny Ventham from the Foresty and Land Scotland said: “Back in 2006 the Kelty Heritage Trail groups worked with Forestry Commission Scotland to develop our trails around Blairadam forest.

"These trails go through Keltyhill wood, past the site of the Blairenbathie surface mine and Colliery and take in some of the heritage points throughout the forest.

“Unfortunately, over the past few years heavy rain fall had affected the trails, eroding the trails and damaging the surface layer.

“We managed some time ago to make repairs to the Blue, Red and Yellow trails and we start work on the White Trail - our last bit of repairs - this week.

“We hope to have this completed within three weeks but we will have to close the trail (from the entrance at the B914 to the wooden bridge over the Drumnagoil burn) while we’re working on it.

“There are plenty more routes for visitors to enjoy as they explore the forest so visitors should still feel free to come and take a bit of exercise – as long as they remember to follow the current COVID-19 guidance.”
