MAGGIE’s cancer centre in Fife raised an enormous amount of money with its virtual elf family fun run in December – and that was just the half of it.

Families all across the Kingdom ran, walked, skipped and jumped their way around the streets and managed to raise an incredible £5,000 for the charity, but there was more Christmas joy on the way for Maggie’s.

As Promised, Smith Anderson Group Limited matched all the money raised, handing over another £5,000 in recognition of the work done by the charity as well as the efforts of those who took part.

In total, with a few late donations added to the coffers, £10,478.00 was raised through the challenge.

Adam Kent, centre fundraising manager at Maggie’s Fife said: “We’re absolutely delighted at the success of our first ever Virtual Elf Family Fun Run.

“It was so great to see so many people dressed up and motivated to support the centre in such a fun way.

“All of the centre team got involved too, including myself, which was a good laugh for our friends, families and neighbours.

“There’s no doubt that Smith Anderson’s pledge to match all funds raised made a huge difference to the campaign.

“I know of many people who donated who gave a little more than they might have otherwise, in the knowledge that their money would in effect be doubled.

“It was a really great way to drum up extra support and we’re grateful for the generosity of everyone at Smith Anderson Group, who’s continued backing helped this campaign to be so positive”.
